Material for ShadowXL

Types of our steel:

The ones suitable for clay tempering (partly hardened)

1: 1045 steel

2: 1095 steel

3: High carbon steel, the carbon content of this steel is about 6%, it is a kind of high toughness steel, hardness of its edge can reach about 55HRC.

4:

5:

6: Crucible steel

7: Ordinary folded steel, which is laminated and folded by different types of steel. After clay tempering and polishing, the blade has very beautiful hamon lines and folded lamination lines.

8: Upgrated folded steel, which is also laminated and folded by different types of steel. But its folding and forged layers are more, so it has more exquisite ji-hada after polishing. Its texture is very similar to tamahagane made by traditional smelting.

9: Tamahagane, which is a kind of steel made by traditional Japanese metallurgy. It is very difficult to make and takes a long time. It usually takes 4-8 months to complete. Each tamahagane has a different style of ji-hada.

The ones suitable for overall hardening

1: 9260 steel

2: 5160 steel

3: High carbon spring steel. Its carbon content is very high, so its hardness is also higher than that of ordinary spring steel, can reach about 58-60HRC. It can easily cut any soft tissue, and has a good edge retention.

4: 51CRV4 steel

5: High performance folded steel: It's folding layers are not too much, so the ji-hada is not that exquisite. The difference between it and the clay tempered folded steel is that it has very good elasticity and relatively hardness after oil quenching, which can reach a hardness of around 57HRC.
